The new stories are both excellently framed and paced, though less directly erotic, I felt. Scrambles has stuck with me as a haunting story made extremely vivid with its attention to detail, giving it that sort of more real than real feeling. Harvest is a fascinating sort of idea-story, again using negative space of just-enough exposition to let your imagination fill in the culture and dynamics of such a lifestyle. (Though I do wonder which villager first thought to herself, “Hey, you know what I should try?”)
